OVERVIEW: This cruising guide provides navigation information for a boater departing from Victoria and traveling along the British Columbia and Southeast Alaskan coasts following the protected waters of the Inside Passage to Glacier Bay, Alaska. It is divided into eight sections with full-color photographs and a sketched chart indicating marinas or anchorages where a cruising boat with a speed of 6 knots can find moorage as it travels along the coast. Each location has a detailed sketch and description of a safe approach, recommended anchorages and shore facilities. Crucial portions such as the transit of passes and the passage of Cape Caution are given particular attention with guidelines for timing and recommended routes. A customized weather map provides excellent information. TITLE: CHARLIE'S CHARTS of the U.S. Pacific Coast 5th Ed. (Seattle, Washington to San Diego, California including the Channel Islands)
OVERVIEW: This cruising guide is a proven reference for safe navigation of the challenges for travel along the US Pacific Coast. It clearly describes the choices of routes for travel along the coast: harbor-hopping, inshore and offshore routes and discusses weather, crossing bars and safety issues. A safe approach to all major facilities is described and sketched in detail as well as the anchorages in the Channel Islands. Many cruisers have found the detailed information invaluable when approaching both planned stop-overs or when making an unexpected approach to the coast as a result of engine or equipment failure or a health emergency. Detailed drawings of marina facilities takes the worry out of approaching an unfamiliar marina especially if the crew is fatigued following a tiring spell at sea. A GPS Waypoint list is intended to assist a cruiser to locate offshore approach buoys and avoid reefs, points and capes by a safe margin. Waypoints are not given following the channel into marinas since channel markers are regularly moved to indicate the best water as a result of constant shoaling and scouring. Many marinas in San Francisco Bay usually have spaces allocated for transient cruisers and invite boaters to cruise the Bay to enjoy a wide variety of services, great restaurants and points of interest. OVERVIEW: For over 27 years this has been the definitive guide to cruising Mexico. It covers the marinas and anchorages from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, north in the Sea of Cortez to San Felipe and south along the mainland coast to Puerto Chiapas/Puerto Madero (the southernmost port in Mexico). Rapid changes in marina facilities, telephone numbers and email addresses have resulted in 92 pages being changed since the last edition. The 30-page introduction provides information on topics such as entry procedures, fuel stations, firearms, provisions, money and even Montezuma's Revenge. It includes Janet Steele's Mexico A to Z with many helpful hints for shopping and getting along in Mexico. OVERVIEW:This guide has a detailed sketch of all anchorages and marina facilities in the Hawaiian Islands. The introduction discusses significant topics such as weather, navigation, provisioning, entry procedures, pets, radio communication and diving. The Appendices include a chart list, weather forecasts a list of Wx and Fax frequencies and a beautifully illustrated marine animal identification guide of turtles, whales and sharks found in coastal waters. CHARTS & SAILING DIRECTIONS produced by the US Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) are now identified as NIMA (National Imagery and Mapping Agency) publications and should be ordered using the same numbers but with the NIMA prefix. Charlies Charts are probably the most used guides to Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii and Polynesia. No cruiser worth his salt would depart for a cruise in those areas without them."

OVERVIEW: This guide provides detailed drawings of all anchorages and marina facilities on the western coast of Costa Rica. The introduction discusses topics such as climate, entry procedures, money, pets, provisions and worthwhile shore trips. The appendices include chart lists, common menu items (Spanish / English), surfing spots, useful telephone numbers and an illustrated guide to turtle identification. The recently opened full facility Marina Papagayo in Bahia Culebra (Papagayo) has created a first-rate moorage for cruising vessels. Entry procedures to Costa Rica can be completed and the modern marina can accommodate mega yachts. Cruising Costa Rica without this guide would be almost impossible, and it would not be nearly as much fun.....In all, this guide is a must for anyone who is planning a trip along the beautiful west coast of Costa Rica."
